Memorial Day means BBQ season is officially here! Time to bring out the summer dresses and don some red, white and blue to thank all the men and women who served for our country. This year we’re into some vintage-looking gingham dresses, straw hats, moccasins, and lady-like earrings!
This collection was inspired by a recent journey to Costa Rica with my family. One day, my daughter Rachel and I walked through the jungle down to the beach to take pictures of the sunset. The calm, soothing, colors of chalcedony and apricot are a perfect compliment to that time of day; dusk, when the light is subdued and the day is more quiet. The feather motif that I used in the pieces is reminiscent of the nature in the rainforest. It’s inspiring to see animals in their natural habitat.

We agree that to be fashionable is not a matter of age. Ari Seth Cohen’s blog, Advanced Style, proves it. Inspired by his grandmother ‘s unique personal style, Cohen is fascinated by the sensibility of the over-60 set and their various ways of expression through fashion in the Big Apple and beyond.
Iris Apfel in the New York Times
From Iris Apfel to artist Ilona Royce Smithkin to Valerie and Jean of Idiosyncratic Fashionistas, we love these women and their unique take on fashion, especially their love of jewelry.
Today is the release of the “Advanced Style” book available on amazon.com. We can’t wait to pour through the pages for inspiration! In celebration of the book launch, NOWNESS put together a short film by Lina Plioplyte featuring the fashion mavens of Advanced Style. These ladies have some of the most amazing jewelry we have ever seen!

Here’s some outfit inspiration with our new Chalcedony & Apricot Collection! Interesting prints are the perfect partners to colorful jewelry this Spring. We chose two fabulous Etro dresses, a clutch by The Row in the perfect shade of peach and platform suede pumps in soft blue by Rupert Sanderson. The entire look is complemented with a combination Miriam Salat bangles, rings and earrings.
Everyone’s favorite Upper East Sider, Blair Waldorf, wore a Miriam Salat pink Faceted Stone ring in the May 14th episode of Gossip Girl, “The Return of the Ring”. Our gorgeous statement ring in transparent pink resin is topped with a faceted turquoise resin stone and ornately decorated with sterling silver and white cubic zirconias. Leighton Meester’s character is always setting trends, this time she brings back the 80′s in a floral studded blouse by Sportmax paired with a Valentino scalloped trim coat, all in bright shades matching perfectly back to our ring!
We launched our Chalcedony and Apricot Collection Tuesday evening with a fabulous party in The Shops at Columbus Circle benefiting Water For People. This great occasion to shop for Mother’s day gathered customers, fans and friends who were inspired by Miriam’s personal advice to get the perfect gift! The shop was decorated in a floral theme with ditsy print fabric draping the ceiling and tissue paper rosettes lining the shelves. Water facts are displayed on the windows, while videos stream on both ends of the store. Inside, we highlighted all of the 11 countries where Water For People is currently doing work!
We enjoyed sweet truffles by Vosges Haut Chocolate and beverages from Fever Tree and Dry Soda Co.
